MEET THE TEAM
Ashley Suazo (Founder and Executive Director)
Ashley Suazo (aka Ashley de Idiaquez) is the daughter of Honduran immigrants who, through personal and professional experiences, has gained a genuine understanding of the struggles that consume migrants in the United States. It is that unique quality that she channels into her work and advocacy while serving migrant communities.
Ashley has worked in the immigration law industry since 2012, gaining experience through the various positions she has held both currently and in the past, such as a U.S. DOJ Accredited Representative at a nonprofit legal services organization, Paralegal and Supervisory Paralegal at private immigration firms, and as an International Services Designated School Official in a U.S. university setting. Ashley received an M.A. degree from Northeastern University-Boston in International Relations and Global Studies and a B.A. in Humanities and Social Sciences from LSU A&M-Baton Rouge.
In addition to her work at O.L.A., she is on the board of directors for a Louisiana-based nonprofit that provides services for immigration detainees. From a very young age, Ashley has always aspired to live in the Central American region and positively contribute to society. Providing employment, professional development, and educational opportunities within the region has easily been among her most rewarding accomplishments.
