Our founder’s journey
Ashley Suazo
Ashley Suazo (aka Ashley Suazo de Idiaquez) is the proud daughter of Honduran immigrants. Her personal journey, deeply rooted in the challenges faced by migrant communities in the United States, fuels her passion and commitment to advocate for migrants. This personal connection to the cause makes her a relatable and dedicated advocate.
Since 2012, Ashley has been actively involved in the immigration law industry. Her extensive experience spans various roles, including U.S. DOJ Accredited Representative at a nonprofit legal services organization, Paralegal, Supervisory Paralegal at private immigration law firms, and International Services Designated School Official at a U.S. university. She has also demonstrated her commitment to continuous learning and professional development by earning a Master’s degree in International Relations and Global Studies from Northeastern University-Boston and a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities and Social Sciences from LSU A&M-Baton Rouge.
In addition to her work at O.L.A., Ashley serves on the board of directors for a Louisiana-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting immigration detainees. From a young age, she has been driven by her desire to contribute positively to Central America, focusing on providing employment, professional development, and educational opportunities—achievements that she holds as some of her most rewarding accomplishments.
